Editing formulas
All devices:
Navigate to a formula by switching to the
formulas tab and selecting a formula.
There are a number of ways to edit and interact with formulas:
- To name a formula, tap or click on the title in the navigation bar. Long pressing (iPhone & iPad) or right clicking (Mac) on the formula in the formulas library also allows you to rename a formula.
- To add a formula entry, press 'Add new entry...'. You will be prompted with the raw materials library to search for your desired raw material which can then be selected by tapping or clicking on it.
- To set the weight of a formula entry, tap or click on the weight field to the right of the raw material name for the entry and type a weight in grams.
- The right most part of a formula entry shows absolute concentration of the raw material in the formula by default. Tap or click on this text to cycle between this display mode and two others: Relative concentration of each entry in the formula and cost for each entry in the formula (calculated using the 'Cost / g' set in the raw material card in conjunction with the dilution used in the formula entry).
- Click or tap on a formula entry to change dilution and scale the formula with respect to that entry. For more on this, see the dilutions & scaling section of the guide.
- There are a number of additional ways to interact with formula entries, which
can be accessed by long pressing (iPhone & iPad) or right clicking
(Mac) on the formula entry:
- View raw material: This option opens the raw material card for the entry.
- Mark as too strong / weak / remove mark: Selecting these options applies or removes a highlight to the formula entry which you can use as an aid. This can help you remember why you made changes in subsequent iterations of a formula and act as a reminder in the usage table in the raw material card.
- Change raw material: This option opens the raw materials library so you can replace the raw material with another, while preserving the entry weight in the formula. Note that the raw material will be added at its baseline dilution of 100%.
- Delete formula entry: Use this option to delete the entry from the formula.
- The navigation bar also offers 4 options to aid working with formulas:
- Share: Use this button to share your formulas (iPhone & iPad) via the iOS sharing options or export directly to a folder (Mac). A PDF is generated by default but different file formats can be used. See the advanced settings section of this guide for information on how to do this.
- Duplicate formula: Acts like the add new formula button but duplicates the currently edited formula instead.
- Sort formula: Select from a variety of different properties to sort your formula entries by.
- View formula statistics: Brings up the formula statistics view, which provides a visual representation of your formula both as a distribution of substantivity and raw material category usage. You can use this page to add notes to your formula and set a category which determines how it's organised in the formulas library.
